Lisa Minor was born and raised in Dayton Ohio. She is also a Third Generation Public Educator as her Grandmother was a school Principal and her father was a Principal and an Acting Superintendent. Mrs. Minor attended Howard University directly out of high school, worked in the corporate world for 12 years and then changed careers to join the wonderful field of Education. She attended Central State University, earning her BS and Elementary Education and earned two master’s degrees from Wright State, one in Curriculum and Instruction and a Masters in Educational Leadership.
She also obtained her Educational Specialist Degree, from Wright State University which earned her a Superintendent’s License. Mrs. Minor also took Educational Leadership courses at the University of Cincinnati and earned an Urban Principals Certificate from Antioch University.
Mrs. Minor has enjoyed many roles in education. Prior to accepting the position as the Dayton Public Schools, Associate Superintendent, she served the district as a classroom teacher, teacher leader, assistant principal, principal, executive director of school improvement and chief of school improvement. She later left DPS to serve Trotwood-Madison City Schools as the Curriculum Director for six years, and then left to lead an Ohio Department of Education Dropout Prevention and Recovery School for two years. She accepted the opportunity to return to the district in August of 2023 and is often quoted as saying she’s living the dream in her new role.
